In 2013 we developed a new halogen-free raw material, U43X, for our Slotted trunking 88, which has allowed us to adapt to the most demanding market needs and requirements.
Thanks to the proprietary formulation of our raw material, Slotted trunking 88 was the first trunking to pass fire safety tests according to EN 45545-2:2013, meeting the most stringent requirements: HL3 - R22.
The European Standard for rolling stock, EN 45545, which came into force in 2013, consists of a series of European Standards developed by CEN, the European Committee for Standardisation, and constitutes the most advanced reference for fire protection in railway vehicles.
The objectives of EN 45545 are to minimise the probability of a fire starting, to control the speed and extent of fire development and, through this, to minimise the impact of fire products on passengers and crew.
According to the requirements of the standard, samples of the final product must be obtained, and both the base and the lid must be tested if they are of different thickness.
Unex Slotted trunkings 88 in U43X (own-formulated raw material) have successfully passed tests of fire safety according to EN 45545-2: 2013, meeting the requirements R22-R23 (both inside and outside railway vehicles) for hazard levels HL1 to HL3.
Additionally, Unex Slotted trunking 88 has successfully passed the vibration tests according to IEC 61373:2010 “Railway applications. Rolling stock equipment. Shock and vibration test”.
